“Our reaction just depresses me! (…) Why is everything forgiven to Americans in Russia, but nothing to Russians in America? Everything here is extremely simple and scary. If we do not understand this, we are playing for time and hope to hush it up, then this is our national disgrace, ”Kozhevnikov said. In his opinion, the KHL was obliged to indicate the position and immediately disqualify Bush.
On January 16, the leadership of the KHL stressed that they would not comment on this case until the court’s decision. In addition, Lokomotiv announced that Bush continues to train in the first team.
The hockey player confessed to rape on December 13, 2021. The crime happened in 2011, at that time Bush was 17 years old, and the girl was 12. Initially, he was charged with a first-degree sexual offense, for which he could receive from 25 years to life imprisonment. However, during the hearing, the district judge allowed Bush to file for a lesser charge. Also, the hockey player will avoid preliminary imprisonment.
