Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) Alexander Kogan denied the exclusion of Mikhail Kolyada from the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
“I don’t understand what this stuffing is. The coaching council did not meet, no one could vote, ”the specialist emphasized. Kogan asked the media to support Russian athletes and not make a hit from figure skating. He noted that now there is a lot of dirt in the information space.
On January 16, it was reported that the coaching council spoke out against the participation of Kolyada in the team tournament of the Olympics. At the same time, the skater will get into the application for the individual championship, since he took second place in the Russian championship.
The skater was unable to take part in the European Championship due to a foot injury. The winner of the tournament was another Russian Mark Kondratyuk.
On account of Kolyada, two bronze medals at the European Championships and third place at the World Championships. At the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, he won silver in the team competition.
