The COVID-19 pandemic, the spread of a new strain of coronavirus in the Russian Federation, as well as a general increase in prices for goods and services are forcing the majority of Russians (44%) to save. These are the results of a January survey conducted by SuperJob, a high-paying job search service.

As experts have found out, the financial strategy of 44% of Russians during the coronavirus pandemic is to save money: “With galloping inflation, I infringe on spending in every possible way.”

Only for every tenth Russian surveyed, the coronavirus has become a reason to spend more, and for three out of 10 respondents, the financial strategy has not changed.

Earlier, sociologists from the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) found that Russians are skeptical about the prospects for improving their standard of living: almost every second respondent (47%) is sure that the standard of living of the majority of Russian residents after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic will not change in any way. Moreover, more than a quarter of fellow citizens (28%) see reasons for things to get even worse.
