Novak Djokoviæ reacts to court verdict! There is an official statement

It is certain – On Sunday morning the local court decided to deport a Serbian tennis player.

The case started a dozen or so days ago, shortly after arriving in Australia. Although the organizers of the Australian Open originally announced that only vaccinated players would play in the tournament, the Serb, despite not having vaccinated, received permission to play under a medical exception.

However, the Serb’s visa was withdrawn shortly after arrival. The player appealed and stayed in an immigration hotel until then. At that time, it also turned out that Djoković did not provide true information in his visa documents. The tennis player reported that he had not stayed in another country for 14 days prior to his arrival in Australia, which turned out to be untrue.

Djoković made the statement

The final decision was made on Sunday and it is already known that Djoković will not defend his title at the Australian Open, in which he has already triumphed nine times in history. Immediately after the court’s decision, the Serb issued a statement.

“I will take some time to rest and recuperate before making any further comment. I am very disappointed with the court ruling that my application to review the minister’s decision to cancel my visa was dismissed. This means I cannot stay in Australia and participate in the tournament.”

He added: “I respect the ruling and will cooperate with the relevant authorities on my departure from the country. I feel uncomfortable that the last weeks have focused on me and I hope that now we can all concentrate on the game and the tournament that I love.” .

“I would like to wish the players, tournament officials, staff, volunteers and fans all the best. I would like to thank my family, friends, team, fans and Serbs for their continued support. You have been a great source of strength for me.”
