In Russia called the shameful decision to deport Djokovic

First Deputy Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky condemned the Australian authorities for the decision to deport Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. His words are quoted by TASS.

“What a shameful decision to ban Novak Djokovic from the Australian Open! Politics should not interfere with sports,” Polyansky said. He wished the athlete new victories and noted that politics has overshadowed the sports component.

Earlier on January 16, Djokovic was deported from Australia. He will not be able to visit the country for three years. The athlete admitted that he was extremely disappointed with the current situation.

The tennis player is being expelled from the country for the second time, as his visa does not include data on a medical exemption from vaccination against COVID-19. Djokovic planned to take part in the Australian Open tournament, which will be held from January 17 to 30. Serb is the current trophy holder.
