The Cruz Azul of Peruvian coach Juan Reynoso beat Juárez FC 1-0 this Saturday and maintained its perfect pace at the start of the Clausura 2022 Mexican soccer tournament. Ecuadorian striker Bryan Angulo was taken into account for this match and entered at 54 minutes to replace Erik Lira.
Carlos Rodríguez converted in the 5th minute from a pass from Uriel Antuna and reached two goals in two games with “La Maquina”, to decide a duel in which the visitors did little in the first half and could not tie in the second.
Cruz Azul controlled the match in the initial 45 minutes and although in the second half they were more concerned with defending, they came close to widening the scoreboard with a shot from Venezuelan Rómulo Otero, stopped by goalkeeper Hugo González.
The Blues jumped to second place in the table with two wins and six points, while Brazilian manager Ricardo Ferretti’s Juarez is eighth with one win and one loss.
In another match, the Argentine Lucas Rodríguez converted a goal with his right foot in the 59th minute and rescued the Xolos de Tijuana from a 1-1 draw with León, who had taken the lead with a goal from the Chilean Víctor Dávila, with a hit from left foot in the 23rd minute. Ángel Mena, figure of the beasts, started and played the 90 minutes.
This Saturday there were two other games. The champion Atlas debuted with a 1-0 victory over San Luis, the Mexican branch of Atlético de Madrid, and Puebla surprised the favorite Tigres UANL and defeated them 0-2 in their own stadium. (D)
