Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic commented on the decision of the Australian authorities to deport tennis player Novak Djokovic, which will deprive the latter of the opportunity to participate in the Australian Open. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Vucic condemned the deportation of Djokovic. “They mocked the best tennis player for 11 days in order to hand him a decision made in essence from the very first day,” the politician is convinced. He also described the situation with the tennis player as a witch hunt.
In addition, Vučić accused the prosecutor of distorting the vaccination data in Serbia. Less than half of the country’s population has been vaccinated, according to an Australian prosecutor. Vucic, on the other hand, cited data from the Serbian authorities, according to which 58 percent of citizens have been vaccinated.
Earlier it became known that Djokovic lost the appeal and will be deported. In addition, the Serb will be banned from entering Australia for the next three years.
The tennis player has already tried to be expelled from the country. On January 10, the Serbian visa was canceled, since the document did not imply the inclusion of data on a medical exemption from vaccination against coronavirus. Djokovic managed to win the appeal and avoid deportation. However, he was soon arrested again.
