As ZPRP informed on Wednesday, as many as five competitors received a positive result of the COVID-19 test: Adam Morawski, Piotr Chrapkowski, Jan Czuwara, Kacper Adamski and Damian Przytuła. “The players feel well and pass the infection asymptomatically. In accordance with the procedure of the European Handball Federation (EHF), the above-mentioned representatives have been subjected to isolation” – reads the official statement.
On Thursday, Poles had to wait until late in the evening for the results of subsequent tests, which gave negative results. What’s more, five players appointed in the place of previously excluded team members passed the tests on Thursday evening and there was no information about the results of their tests for a long time.
On Friday, Poles passed the last tests. And they didn’t know if they would play at all!
On Friday morning, the Polish national team, contrary to the EHF regulations, underwent further tests for the presence of coronavirus. Their results were to appear five hours before the match, i.e. by 15:30. But it did not happen, so it was not known for a long time whether the Poles would be able to play their match on Friday, and if so, in what line-up.
Ultimately, the test results appeared just before 18:00 and it became clear that Patryk Rombel will have all the players at his disposal. All tests were negative, so the Poles will play with the full, 16-person squad.
