Brighton manager wants Moises Caicedo to ‘join the main group’ on his return to the club

Graham Potter called the Ecuadorian midfielder back to face the second half of the Premier.

Moisés Caicedo already trained with Brighton & Hove Albion this Thursday, a day after the English Premier League club announced his return, after playing since August at the Belgian K Beerschot VA. “Now it’s about him getting into the group”, said the coach of the Seagulls, Graham Potter, regarding the young Ecuadorian midfielder.

“Moisés Caicedo has played games for Beerschot and for his country, and that of course helps him,” Potter said, in statements collected by Brighton on social networks.

And the technical director added: “It is about him entering the group now. He joins us with Enock (Mwepu, African midfielder), away for a few weeks, and with a pretty busy couple of months to come. We are excited about it”.

According to the British media Sussex Live, Caicedo has already worked with the main team and, citing Potter, may be called up for the match against Crystal Palace on Friday, in matchday 22.

The tricolor midfielder (20 years old) was signed by Brighton in January 2021 (until June 2025), after passing through Independiente del Valle. However, he barely added minutes with the Seagulls and in August he joined K Beerschot VA, of the Belgian First Division, where he had a greater participation. Although the contract with the purples ended in mid-2022, Potter wanted the Ecuadorian back to face the second half of the English season.

Caicedo is urgently called by Brighton due to the losses of Mwepu and Bissouma

The return of Caicedo, an international with the Ecuadorian team since October 2020, has been possible in England, especially due to the absence of Yves Bissouma, who is playing the African Cup of Nations with Mali. In addition, there is interest in the African from big clubs in the Premier, according to Sussex Live: “According to reports this week, Aston Villa have joined the growing list of teams including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in keeping an eye on the Albion midfielder. And it’s easy to see why.” (D)
