New opinion about Kamil Stoch’s injury. How long will it take to get back to the hill?

On Wednesday, before training, Kamil Stoch turned up his ankle. Initially, a slight trauma was assumed, but with time swelling appeared, which forced the Pole to conduct additional tests. These left no doubt. –

Rehabilitation in an athlete is faster. Stoch should make it to IO

An orthopedic doctor who specializes in the treatment of lower limb injuries, especially in the knee and ankle joints, gave an optimistic opinion about the situation three times.

– High-performance athletes of age are orthopedically very young people with very high regenerative abilities. This, combined with training and the best possible medical care, will probably definitely shorten the return to full physical disposal – said Wojciech Kruk in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.

He added that it all depends on what exactly the Polish jumper suffered, what part of the articular capsule, which ligaments and to what extent were damaged. Kruk indicates that the vast majority of injuries sustained in such circumstances as in the case of Stoch end up with damage to the anterior sagittal ligament. And most importantly, the injury to the Polish leader did not occur during the jump.

“This seems to be extremely important, because I suspect that this is not the result of overload, but an ordinary incident that can happen to any of us,” the doctor noted. And he adds that the average person usually takes 8-12 weeks to regain full fitness after such an injury. In the case of an athlete, it depends, among others on the level of training, muscle tissue and preventive measures supported by appropriate drugs.

– It is assumed that, from a medical point of view, 4-6 weeks of rehabilitation is required, but if nothing even more serious has been detected, it may be similar to last year with a collateral ligament injury of the knee. The break was supposed to last 6-8 weeks, and he returned to the pitch after four – quotes Wojciech Kruk.

A similar position was taken by Rafał Kot, a physiotherapist who used to work with the Polish representation in – In my opinion, there is enough time until the Olympic Games that Kamil will have time to recover and return to the hill -. According to the physiotherapist, Stoch’s break should last about two weeks.
