Media: Australian authorities want to deport Djokovic! “Kick the Joker”

Australia is one of the countries with the strictest rules in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Australian Open government will only allow players who are vaccinated or qualified as a “medical exception” to play. The best tennis player in the world, Novak Djoković, belongs to the latter group.

After the tennis player reached Australia, he was referred to an immigration center and his permission to enter the country was revoked. On Monday, January 10, an Australian court decided to overturn the central government’s decision to cancel a tennis player’s visa, but Djoković still cannot be sure to play at the Australian Open.

Media: Djokovic’s decision on the draw of the Australian Open bracket. An unequivocal reaction

Paul Bongiorno, a journalist for the Australian weekly “The Saturday Paper”, published an entry on Twitter in which he briefly referred to the situation related to Novak Djokovic. “I hear Alex Hawke (Australian Immigration Minister) will kick the Joker tomorrow,” he wrote. This therefore means that Hawke will exercise his powers and revoke the tennis player’s visa again, and Djoković will be returned to Serbia as a result.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić in an interview with the Reuters news agency said that she told her Australian counterpart that the local government was ready to give a guarantee that Djoković would comply with local laws. It seems that such a declaration will not be needed as the leader of the world ranking will not be admitted to the first Grand Slam in 2022.

In his travel declaration, Novak Djoković concealed his stay in Spain, and more specifically the preparations for the Australian Open in Marbella. The basis for granting Djoković a visa to Australia was a positive test result on December 16, 2021. “The digital results include a timestamp for December 26 at 14:21, Serbian time. Such timestamps are usually generated automatically by coronavirus test systems. They indicate when individual tests are entered into the relevant database.”
