This is how Stoch got injured. Surprising backstage. The doctor revealed the details

Kamil Stoch will not start in the World Cup competition in Zakopane due to a torn joint capsule and torn ligaments in the ankle joint.

Stoch’s injury. “It takes 2-3 weeks for him to be able to jump”

– Kamil Stoch turned up the ankle in the warm-up. Therefore, today he will not jump in the training of the team at Wielka Krokiew. But his start in the World Cup in Zakopane is not endangered – said Jan Winkiel, PZN General Secretary.

However, the situation turned out to be not so good. Soon after, it turned out that the three-time Olympic champion developed swelling, and therefore he underwent a detailed examination.

– The research is behind us. Fortunately, the bones are whole, but Kamil Stoch has a torn joint capsule, the ligaments are torn, and there is a large swelling. It takes a long time for this to heal 100 percent. It takes 2-3 weeks for Kamil to be able to jump – Dr. Aleksander Winiarski told Sport.pl.

“Everything should be fine by the Olympics”

Later, in an interview with TVP Sport, Dr. Winiarski provided slightly more optimistic information. The team doctor also informed about the injury of the three-time Olympic champion.

– The sprain happened while playing volleyball. Now a minimum of a week’s break, and then we’ll see. Everything should be fine for the Olympics – said Winiarski.

The Olympic Games in Beijing will begin on February 4. A day later the qualification for the competition on the normal hill in Zhangjiakou will take place.

Stoch’s moving words. “My heart is breaking”

– My heart is breaking. The last jump on Monday gave me so much faith, energy and joy that I was looking forward to today’s training –

– A warm-up, a second of inattention, I don’t even know what to call it and the pain … The ankle swelled and changed color. Treatments, consultations and diagnoses lasting several hours. A torn joint bag, I will not be able to start in Zakopane – continued the three-time Olympic champion.

– After all, I want to share this weekend with you. I will keep you informed about everything – summed up Stoch, who also posted the hashtag #whatdoesntkillyoumakesyoustronger (what won’t kill you, will make you stronger).

The competition in Zakopane will start on Friday, when the qualification for the Sunday individual competition will take place. A team competition is scheduled for Saturday. Live coverage on Sport.pl.
