Recall that the day before in Geneva, Russian-American interagency talks on security guarantees took place, the Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
According to him, the negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States were complex, deep and specific, and the parties did not avoid sharp corners. For example, Ryabkov stressed that Russia has once again assured that the Russian Federation has no and cannot have any intentions to “attack” Ukraine, and all measures for the combat training of forces are being carried out within the national territory.
For her part, US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said that Washington is ready to provide assistance to the allies in the event of an invasion of Ukraine. Moreover, the American side made it clear that it was ready for tough sanctions. Russia, Sherman added, will have to make a choice: either start de-escalating the situation on the border with Ukraine, or face the consequences.
