Vini Jr. scores, Real beats Barcelona in extra time and advances to the final of the Supercopa de España

This Wednesday, the Real Madrid won the Barcelona, by 3 to 2, in the extra time, and guaranteed a place in the final of the Supercopa de España. The match was played in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde scored for the team White at King Fahd International Stadium. Luuk de Jong and Ansu Fati did it for the Catalans.

On the other side of the key, Atlético de Madrid e Athletic Bilbao face each other on Thursday, at 16:00 (Brasília time). The game that is worth the title, in turn, is scheduled for Sunday at 14:00.

The game – Under Carlo Ancelotti, Real put pressure on Xavi Hernández’s Barça and opened the scoring in the 25th minute with Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian received a pass from Benzema, fired at speed and, facing the goalkeeper, hit high, in the right corner, marking the first of the duel.

At 41, Ousmane Dembélé crossed low from the left and Éder Militão tried to ward off the danger. The ball, however, hit the center forward of Jong and swung the nets, to tie the confrontation.

Barcelona came back better from the break, attacked their rival at the beginning of the second period and built opportunities to turn the game around. However, who celebrated another goal was Real Madrid, with top scorer Benzema, in the 27th minute. The French forward took advantage of a rebound from Marc-André ter Stegen, who spread the ball after a Dani Carvajal cross, and only pushed it to the back of the goal.

Barça, in turn, managed to react and, thus, tied the confrontation in the 38th minute, with Fati. The young winger, who had come off the bench, was called by Jordi Alba and, with his head, equalized the score.

At eight minutes of extra time, Real returned to lead the duel after a beautiful goal produced by Brazilians. Casemiro pulled the counterattack and played for Rodrygo, who crossed low from the right. From inside the area, Vinícius Júnior applied a light block and left the ball free for the Uruguayan Valverde, who dominated and calmly hit the corner, securing the 3-2 triumph.
