This Wednesday, at Estádio dos Arcos, Rio Ave hosted Tondela for the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup. The visitors won 1-0, with a goal by striker Dadashov, and passed the stage.
The hosts had more possession of the ball in the first half and abused the crosses, which were not effective. Tondela, on the other hand, chose to give the ball to Rio Ave and bet on counterattacks.
In the second half, Rio Ave had defender Aderllan (ex-São Paulo) expelled. The player had already received the first yellow card in the 6th minute of the game and received the direct red at the 17th of the final stage, after a tough entry. After the expulsion, the entire game was played by Tondela, who increased the pace, but could not avoid extra time.

In the extra time, the visitors continued to press and were rewarded with the goal in the sixth minute. The striker Dadashov came off the bench and only needed a minute on the field to put Tondela in front. With one less, Rio Ave didn’t have the strength to seek the tie and Tondela confirmed the classification for the semifinals of the Portuguese Cup.
