Olympic champion in figure skating from Canada Megan Duhamel in Twitter responded to the insults of coach Alexander Zhulin against the American skater Timothy Ledyuk.
The athlete called the words of the Russian unacceptable and outrageous and demanded that the International Skating Union (ISU) punish Zhulin. “I hope this behavior will end!” – wrote Duhamel.
On January 11, Zhulin commented on the information that Leduc will become the first non-binary athlete at the Beijing Olympics. He called the athlete a freak and could not determine in which category he needed to perform.
On January 10, the US national figure skating team announced the squad for the 2022 Olympics. The list includes Leduc, who identifies himself as a gender that falls out of the binary system. He announced his non-binary gender identity last year.
Leduc is paired with Ashley Kane-Gribble. In January of this year, the couple became the US Champions.
