Fedor Emelianenko urged to ban freak fights

Russian fighter mixed style (MMA) Fedor Emelianenko called for the fight against non-professional fights, or freak fights. TASS reports.

The 45-year-old heavyweight is convinced that freak fighting should be banned. “Sports federations should be involved in this. Such fights should be prohibited. It is necessary to involve the prosecutor’s office and resolve the issue at the legislative level, ”he is convinced.

Emelianenko also parried the statement of one of the journalists, who drew attention to the fact that the fights of the most heavyweight in Pride can be called freak fights. The Russian has repeatedly fought with rivals who surpassed him in size. In particular, in 2005 he fought against the Brazilian Zuluzinho, whose weight was 180 kilograms.

“I fought in heavyweights, there were no restrictions over 93 kilograms. It is wrong to compare my fights with what is happening now. I fought with professionals. Now they are doing a show, and it is not clear who attracts attention, ”he said.

Emelianenko will fight in Russia for the first time since 2016. The Russian will lead the Bellator tournament in Moscow on 23 October.
