The Presidium of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation (FLGR) has announced the composition of the country’s national team for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. This was reported on the website of the organization.
For men, in addition to the world champion Alexander Bolshunov, Sergey Ustyugov, Ivan Yakimushkin, Alexey Chervotkin, Denis Spitsov, Artem Maltsev, Ilya Semikov and Alexander Terentyev will take part in the competition.
For women, the team included 20-year-old Veronica Stepanova, 26-year-old Natalya Nepryaeva, as well as Tatyana Sorina, Yulia Stupak, Khristina Matsokina, Maria Istomina, Lilia Vasilyeva and Anastasia Rygalina.
On January 10, the stage of the World Cup in cross-country skiing was canceled, which was to be held in Slovenian Planica from January 21 to 23. The decision was made due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation.
On January 4, for the first time in the history of the Russian women’s national team, Nepryaeva won the overall classification of the Tour de Ski. Bolshunov finished the competition in second place.
The Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from 4 to 20 February. Skiers will compete for 12 sets of awards.
