Djokovic is under the threat of prison

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic could receive a prison sentence for providing false information when entering Australia. Reported by The Age.

According to the source, the 34-year-old athlete, upon entering Australia, stated that he had not been in other countries 14 days before arrival, although he had visited Spain and Serbia. For this he faces up to a year in prison. At the same time, at the border, Djokovic said that the Australian Tennis Federation filled out the declaration for him, and not himself.

On January 10, Djokovic won an appeal for deportation from Australia. The court agreed with the statement that the Serb had provided all the documents to enter the country.

On January 5, Djokovic was denied entry to Australia, as his visa did not imply the entry into it of data on a medical withdrawal from vaccination against COVID-19. The athlete planned to take part in the Australian Open, which will take place from January 17 to 30.
