Mane the hero in the 97th minute. All PNA matches for one result

50 years later it was organized again by Cameroon. On the second day of the exceptional event, Senegal faced the team from Zimbabwe, among others.

Mane saved Senegal with a penalty shot

The Senegalese people had serious staffing problems before the match. Due to coronavirus infections, they could not include, among others, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy. Nevertheless, from the very beginning of their clash with Zimbabwe, they took the initiative. They could even drive in the first minute. Then Sadio Mane played for Bouna Sarra, who decided to shoot from a distance. The ball just passed the post. Later they had a few more chances, but neither Fode Ballo-Toure, who missed the goal spot from outside the penalty area, nor Mane, after defeating two opponents, missed their chances in the first half.

In the second part of the game, Aliou Cisse’s team also had their chances. Like when Pape Abou Cisse was close to scoring after Idrissa Gueye’s cross. The center-back headed the shot, but it was still a goalless draw. The game seemed to be a draw. In added time, however, the referee saw Kelvin Madzongwe play with his hand in the penalty area. And on the 11th meter he stopped in front of the ball. The 29-year-old hit the Zimbabwe goal with a certain shot of the ball, becoming a hero of Senegal. Ultimately, it was his team that won 1-0 and took the lead in Group B of the African Nations Cup.

Morocco defeats Ghana, Komorczyk’s unsuccessful debut

They faced Ghana in the Group C game. Looking at the statistics of both teams, the former was the clear favorite of the match. This is because, in regular time, Morocco has not lost a defeat since October 15, 2019. The first minutes of Monday’s match, however, did not confirm this. In the first half of the “Lions of the Atlas”, only one shot on goal. Although they were the ones who dominated the ball possession.

The fate of the game turned around only in the second half. And that’s actually at the end of it, because in the 83rd minute Sofiane Boufal fired a shot in the far corner of Ghana’s goal. The rivals’ goalkeeper was helpless. Until the end of the match, “Black Stars” did not even manage to even out the result. As a result, Morocco won with Ghana 1-0.

In Monday’s matches played as part of the African Nations Cup, none of the teams spoiled the fans with the number of goals scored. In both Guinea v Malawi and Comoros v Gabon, the matches ended with a single goal. In the first case, Guinea triumphed after Issiaga Sylla hit the opposition’s goal. This is with the assistance of Jose Kante. Former footballer incl. Legia Warszawa passed the opponent in the penalty area and gave the ball to his friend.

In the fourth game of Comoros, which played a match in PNA for the first time in their history, they had to recognize the superiority of Gabon’s players. This is why the Komorczyk goalkeeper did not manage to defend Aaron Boupendza’s shot at the beginning of the match. Moussa Djoumi’s shot raised hope in the rookie ranks in the second half, but the Gabon goalkeeper rose to the occasion.
