A racer from the Netherlands accused KamAZ-master of cheating at the Dakar

The Dutch driver Mauric van den Hevel from the International team accused the Russian KamAZ-master team of cheating at the Dakar rally in Saudi Arabia. Reported by Omroep Brabant.

The athlete stated that the team has equipment that gives them additional information on the waypoints of the special stage. As an example, he cited an episode when the crew of Andrey Karginov overtook his truck and turned in the opposite direction from the sign, eventually gaining an advantage. “It’s just impossible to beat them, it’s unfair,” summed up the Dutchman.

Van den Hevel retired from the Dakar in the seventh stage, crashing his truck. At the moment, the overall standings of the race are headed by three Russian crews.

The race takes place in Saudi Arabia for the third year in a row. The competition started on January 1 and will end on January 14, 2022. Last season, the crews of the Russian KamAZ-master team took the entire podium in the truck classification.
