The 70th 4-Hills-Tournament has come to an end. The winner of this year’s edition was the one who won three out of four competitions. Marius Lindvik finished second and Halvor Egner Granerud was third. The best Pole was Piotr ¯y³a (15th).
Granerud is happy with the defeat of the Germans? “I know how much they care”
The German jumpers again had a great appetite for the victory. For 20 years, this incredibly successful nation has not been able to achieve a triumph in a prestigious event. The last player of our western neighbors to win was Sven Hannawald. And it was in the 2001/2002 season.
This year, the great favorite of the Germans was Karl Geiger. It was he who entered the tournament as the leader of the World Cup. However, he lost his chances in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where he was seventh, with a big loss to Ryoyu Kobayashi. Until the end, however, he fought for a place on the podium in the “general classification” of the event. However, this mission also failed. he lost the competition for the third place by 4.6 points. He finished fourth.
The situation was surprisingly commented by the one who was ahead of Karl Geiger. – I know how much Germany cares about the podium of the 4-Hills-Tournament, so it’s nice for them to take this place away – he said in an interview with Norwegian TV2 after the competition. As we read in the report of journalists from this station, the jumper nodded in a meaningful way towards his German rivals.
The final competition of the 4-Hills-Tournament was won by Daniel Huber, for whom it was the first victory in his career. Granerud was second and Karl Geiger was third. Now there is a day of break ahead of the jumpers, and on Saturday they will return to the hill, where they will fight for World Cup points again.
