Bolshunov underwent jaw surgery

The world champion in cross-country skiing, Russian Alexander Bolshunov, underwent an operation. This was reported by Match TV.

The reason for the surgery, which took place on Friday, October 15, was a problem with a cyst in the upper jaw. It arose from an improperly healed filling of the neural canal of the tooth.

The athlete’s personal trainer Yuri Borodavko said that according to the doctors’ forecast, Bolshunov’s full recovery will take about 10 days. The Russian will be able to resume training in 2-3 days after the stitches are removed. Now the skier is in Moscow.

The athlete won the gold medal at the 2021 world championship in Oberstdorf, Germany in the skiathlon. The Russian is also a six-time vice-champion of the planet. In addition, he became the bronze medalist of the World Championship.

Bolshunov is the winner of the last two World Cup draws. The new competition season starts at the end of November.
