Sterling wants space at Manchester City and Guardiola asks for transparency

Raheem Sterling admitted this week that he is open to new plans and paths for his career in football. The 26-year-old has struggled to earn a place in Manchester City’s starting lineup and Guardiola said he “unfortunately” cannot keep all players on the field for 90 minutes.

“Raheem wants more playing time, like Mahrez and João Cancelo. When they don’t play, they complain, but I can’t guarantee how many minutes each player will act. They need to talk in the grass, in the field. This is the best moment,” said Pep.

The player stated that he wants to propose challenges to his life and that he would love to play for a team outside England. “As an English player, everything I know until now I’ve seen in the Premier League, but I’ve always had something with football abroad. I wanted to see how I would face this challenge,” said Sterling.

“Since I was a child, football has been the most important thing in my life. The happiest thing, I must say. If I want my happiness at a certain level, I need to play football. I need to score goals and have fun,” he added.

City faces Burnley this Saturday, for the Premier League. After confirming the injury to Ferran Torres, Guardiola said the striker could be out for three months.

The coach also said that the Brazilian duo Ederson and Gabriel Jesus will lose the English game and is not sure if they will return to the team in next Tuesday’s match, against Brugge, for the Champions League.
