Manchester City full-back João Cancelo reported on social media that he was assaulted during a robbery at his home on Thursday night. “Unfortunately, I was attacked by four cowards who hurt me and tried to hurt my family,” the 27-year-old announced this Friday on Instagram, in a text with a photo in which he appears with a wound three centimeters above the right eyebrow.
“They managed to take off all my jewelry and left my face in this state”, reported the full-back, who was on the field the day before in Manchester City’s victory over Brentford (1-0), in London (1-0), for the Championship English.
“After so many obstacles in my life, it’s one more test that I’m going to overcome,” he added.
Cancelo lost his mother in a car accident a decade ago, when the player himself was in the car.
The thieves managed to escape. The police opened an investigation.
