RPL condemned racist insults of fans addressed to the player “Zenit” Vendel
The Russian Premier League (RPL) responded to racist insults to the midfielder of the St. Petersburg “Zenit” Vendel during the match of the 20th round of the Russian Championship against the Voronezh “Fakela”. This was reported on the organization’s website.
RPL condemned the behavior of the fans and called it unacceptable. They emphasized that the conflict situation will be comprehensively examined at a meeting of the RFU CCC.
The meeting between Zenit and Torli took place earlier than March 8 and ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of Petersburgers. In the 74th minute, Vendel received a red card for unsportsmanlike behavior at Zenit. The Brazilian showed the middle finger towards the fans. Later, the head coach of Zenit, Sergei Semak, said that the players and fans of “torch” provoked the player.
Zenit scored 43 points and caught up with the leading Krasnodar. The torch remains an outsider of the RPL and with 14 points is in the 15th position.
