The head of the Olympic Committee of Russia and the Minister of Sports of the country Mikhail Degtyarev called the gross mistake that the previous leadership of the OKR made. His words are given by TASS.
According to the functionary, this is a refusal to expand the staff of lawyers. “Being under hard sanctions and a bank in international courts, we, unfortunately, did not increase the staff, did not form a defense team,” Degtyarev said.
The head of the OKR emphasized that this work is being carried out now. “Recently, 5 million dollars for an unpaid share under the marketing program in 2022 were not called from the International Olympic Committee,” Degtyarev added.
Earlier, the head of the OKR promised to intercede for athletes that will receive neutral status for performing at international competitions. “We will not allow anyone to brand the guys, calling them in foreign agents and traitors,” Degtyarev said.
The Minister of Sports Degtyarev headed the OKR in December last year. Two months earlier, the post was left by Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
