Suspended the Ordiziako Klasikoa of 2025, due to lack of budget

The Ordiziako Klasikoa-Prueba Villafranca, the second oldest cycling race in the world after the Flanders Tour, will not play its 102nd edition on July 25as planned, Due to lack of budgetas announced on Wednesday the organization of the test.
In a statement, the Test Organizing Committee has indicated that it has adopted this decision “Because of the impossibility of covering the budget required by an international event of this level.” Those responsible have expressed their thanks to the institutions, sponsors, partners and collaborators who have supported the race in previous editions.
The Ordiziako Klasikoa was born in 1922, and has only stopped being played in 1936 and in 1937, on the occasion of the Civil War. In his record there are, among other great cyclists, winners such as Simon Yates (2022) Alejandro Valverde (2003), Laurent Jalabert (1999), Abraham Olano (1992), Marino Lejarreta (1981, 1988, 1989) and Txomin Perurena (1971, 1972).
