Head of UEFA Cheferin: Politicals are to blame for the prevention of the youth teams of Russia
The President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Alexander Cheferin found guilty of the prevention of Russian youth teams for international tournaments. His words are given on the Delo.si page on the social network X.
Cheferin said that European politicians became the fault of everything. “Our proposal was criticized by mainstream politicians, especially the left. Politics gives rise to hatred and intolerance, ”the head of UEFA counted.
In September 2023, the UEFA Executive Committee proposed to allow Russian young men to tournaments in neutral status. After that, some countries, including Ukraine, announced their intention to boycott matches with Russia’s teams. As a result, the decision on admission was not made.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football and UEFA Federation suspended Russian teams and clubs from participation in international tournaments. Teams do not perform in European competitions, and the Russian team lost the opportunity to fight for access to the final part of the world and European championships.
