Tatyana Sergaeva was appointed to the post of head coach of the Russian national rhythmic gymnastics team. This was announced by RIA Novosti by the President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation (FGR) Oleg Belozerov.
Sergaeva was replaced by Irina Wiener, who has been the head coach since 2001. Her candidacy was agreed by the Minister of Sports and the head of the Olympic Committee of Russia Mikhail Degtyarev.
Degtyarev stated that the candidacy of Sergayeva is meeting the requirements for preparation in gymnastics. “She has to maintain the best traditions of the domestic school, but take into account new realities,” he emphasized.
Sergaeva is a honored coach of Russia. For 17 years, she was the senior coach of the Russian team in group exercises. In addition, she worked at the Academy of Alina Kabaeva “Heavenly Grace.”
Wiener announced the departure from the Russian team earlier on February 12. She added that she would transfer the gained experience to trainers engaged in the preparation of future generations of stars.
