Conkaf will punish Judge Ortis for Messi after the match Autograph
The Confederation of Football of North and Central America and the Caribbean Basin (Conkakaf) will punish Judge Marco Antonio Ortis for an autograph taken from the captain of Inter Miami Lionel Messi after the match. It is reported by ESPN.
The incident occurred after the match of the 1/16 finals of the Champions Cup of Concafe between Inter Miami and Sporting Kansas-City (1: 0, a goal in the 56th minute on the Messi account). After the final whistle, the referee approached the Argentine and asked for an autograph for a family member.
“The behavior of the judge does not comply with the Code of the officials of the Confederation match,” the Concafe statement said. It is noted that Ortis recognized his mistake, apologized for the incident and agreed with disciplinary measures. The punishment for the referee is not disclosed.
In 2023, the cleaner who worked at the Inter Miami stadium was fired for an autograph taken from Messi. Colombian Christian Salamanca admitted that it was worth every second.
