The organizers of the race in Italy explained the lack of a flag in Bolshunov

The organizers of the race in Italy removed the flag from Bolshunov to avoid criticism

The organizers of the Sudtirol MoonLight Classic race in Italy explained why they decided to remove the flag of Russia from the skier Alexander Bolshunov. The statement is given by TASS.

“We did not publish a Russian flag so as not to give a reason for criticism and new discussions,” the organizers said, noting that thanks to this the athlete was able to start without any inconvenience.

Initially, in the protocol of the participants of the competition, the Russian flag had a Russian flag. He was removed a few hours before the start of the race. The organizers explained that the decision to speak a Russian under a neutral flag was made immediately.

Bolshunov won the race of 30 kilometers with a classic style, despite the fact that his lantern was turned off. These were the first international competitions for the Russian over the past three years.

The restrictions on the performance of Russians by the International Federation of Ski Racing and Snowboard (FIS) were imposed in March 2022. Since that moment, representatives of Russia have been suspended from international tournaments.
