Anton Sikharulidze was elected head of the figure skating of Russia’s skates
Olympic champion Anton Sikharulidze became president of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKKR). This was reported on the organization’s website.
The 48-year-old Sikharulidze, who was the only contender for the post, was elected unanimously at an extraordinary election conference. Since April 2023, he was the acting head of the organization.
Sikharulidze performed in paired skating with Elena Berezhnaya. Together they became Olympic champions and vice-champions of games, as well as two-time winners of the world and European championships.
In December 2024, the International Union of Skating Handles (ISU) announced the admission of Russians for the selection for games-2026, which will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina-D’Ampezzo. In qualification competitions, they will be able to take part in one athlete or pair in each discipline in neutral status.
