Duhamel: Valieva may not return the medals if ISU does not require this
The Olympic champion in Canada Megan Duel answered the question of whether the Russian Kamil Valieva should return the medals after canceling her doping results. It is reported by “All -Sport”.
According to Duhamel, Valieva may not return the medals if the international union of skaters (ISU) does not require this. “I did not know that Valieva never returned her medals. I don’t understand why to keep these awards, since the result of the competition was canceled, ”she said.
Earlier it was reported that Valieva did not return the awards that were deprived of due to removal. The gold of the European Championship should go to the Russian woman Anna Shcherbakova. The title of Russian champion-2022 should receive Alexander Trusov. In addition, Valieva should return the medals of two more championships of Russia, as well as three stages and one final of the country’s Grand Prix.
In January 2024, the sports arbitration court disqualified Valiev for four years. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the forbidden drug trimetasidine were discovered. Because of this, the Russian national team lost the gold of the Olympic Games team-2022 (the rest of the team, after recalculating the points, should receive bronze medals).
