Member of the Council of IIHF Cosiols doubted the influence of Trump to return Russians
Member of the Council of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), General Director of the Latvian hockey federation Visturs Koziols, appreciated the influence of US President Donald Trump on the possible return of Russian teams to world tournaments. His words are given by Sport-Express.
The official doubted this influence. “If on the report someone says that Donald Trump will be able to ensure the safe holding of the world championships, I will be very happy. It would be great! But I think that Donald Trump is a little busy, ”said Cosiols.
Earlier, IIHF announced that on February 3-4 will consider the issue of admission of the Russian national team to the 2026 Olympics. In the case of a positive decision, the Russians will play with the USA, Slovakia and Latvia in group S.
IIHF extended the removal of the national teams of Russia and Belarus for the season-2024/2025. For the first time, restrictions were introduced in February 2022.
