“The Olympic Charter is what drives me. If Russia complies with the charter, I have no reason to apply sanctions to it, ”he said. In his opinion, athletes should be provided with equal conditions and access to sports regardless of political circumstances.
Earlier, the head of the International Ski Federation and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and presidential candidate Johan Eliash advocated the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes for world tournaments in neutral status. He proposed to use the conditions of the admission used at the 2024 Olympics.
