Russian Synchronized Swimmers Coach Pokrovskaya: Team Level at Games Disappointing

The head coach of the Russian national synchronized swimming team, Tatyana Pokrovskaya, assessed the level of the teams at the 2024 Olympic Games. Her words are quoted by TASS.

“The level disappointed me a little considering the rules of synchronized swimming now. Judging by how the Chinese are performing, we could have fought them for first place,” Pokrovskaya said. The coach called all the other teams weak.

According to the specialist, the Olympic tournament has lost a lot due to the absence of Russian women. “The countries do not feel it yet, but when a long-term leader drops out, it is not good – a lot is lost,” she explained.

For the first time since 2000, synchronized swimmers from outside Russia became Olympic champions. The Chinese team won the group event at the Paris Olympics, with the US team coming in second and Spain rounding out the top three.
