Djokovic beats Alcaraz to become Olympic champion

Serbian Novak Djokovic beat Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and became the 2024 Olympic champion. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.

The decisive meeting in men’s singles ended in two sets with a score of 7:6 (7:3), 7:6 (7:2). The athletes spent 2 hours and 50 minutes on the court.

The bronze medalist of the tournament in Paris was the Italian Lorenzo Musetti. In the fight for the medal, he beat the Canadian tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets with a score of 6:4, 1:6, 6:3.

For 37-year-old Djokovic, who is ranked second by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), these Games were the fifth in his career. He had previously won bronze at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Djokovic completed a career Golden Slam: he won all four Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, US Open) and Olympic gold.
