The Australian cyclist of the team UAE Emirates Jay Vine ha cattle the fourth stage of the 2024 Vuelta a Burgosa 18.5 kilometer time trialthis Thursday; in parallel, the American runner of Visma-Lease a Bike Sepp Kuss remains the leader of the overall standingspending the fifth and final stage of the race, which will take place this Friday.
Kuss has a five-second lead in the general classification Max Poole (DSM)who was eighth in the time trial; in it, Vine, who suffered the serious fall recorded in Olaeta in the Itzulia Basque Country in Aprilhas been eleven seconds better than Edoardo Affini (Visma). It also stands out for the excellent role played by Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma); the Iruindarra, twelfth in this fourth day of racing, is fourth overall, 41 seconds behind Kuss.
Vine’s victory was brilliant, as well as emotional, because the Australian rider was making his return to the peloton in this Vuelta a Burgos, after the accident he suffered in the Itzulia, four months ago. As regards the general classification, it seemed that Poole would be able to take the purple leader’s jersey, but, in the second half of the time trial, he was unable to maintain the pace of the first stage of the day, and, finally, he was five seconds behind the first place held by Sepp Kuss, who was fifteenth in the stage.
The 2024 Vuelta a Burgos ends this Friday, with the fifth stage of the raceThe race will start in Frías and, after covering 156 kilometres, will finish in Condado de Treviño.
