Russian Tennis Players Comment on Reaching the 2024 Olympic Finals

Schneider said she was prepared for Andreeva’s nerves at the start of the Olympic semifinals

Russian tennis players Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider commented on reaching the final of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Their words are quoted by “Championship.com”.

20-year-old Schneider emphasized that she was prepared for 17-year-old Andreeva to be nervous at the beginning of the game. “I had to show her that it would be okay if we lost the first games, we would still get back into the game. I understood that our pair played better technically and in all other respects,” Schneider noted.

According to Andreeva, they won the first three games only thanks to Schneider’s successful play at the net. “It was nerve-wracking, but it was not very easy to make mistakes after Diana kept scoring. So I pulled myself together, and then it became easier mentally,” the 17-year-old Russian noted.

Earlier, Schneider and Andreeva defeated the Spanish Cristina Buxa and Sara Sorribes Tormo in the semifinals of the Games. The match lasted two sets and ended with a score of 6:1, 6:2 in favor of the Russians.
