Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement with RB Leipzig for the signing of midfielder Dani Olmo, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Spaniard will sign with the Catalans for six seasons, until 2030.
According to the source, Barça’s offer accepted by the German team is 55 million euros (around R$340 million), plus seven million in bonuses, with most of the targets being difficult to meet.
Dani Olmo was one of the standout players in Spain’s Euro 2016 triumph. The 26-year-old replaced injured midfielder Pedri in the starting line-up and scored three goals in the competition, including two in the knockout stages against Germany in the quarter-finals and against France in the semi-finals.
In addition, the midfielder had another great season at RB Leipzig, a club he has played for since 2020, but has also suffered from injuries. In 2023/24, he participated in 25 games, scored eight goals and provided five assists.
If the transfer is confirmed, Olmo will return to the club where he was formed. Dani played for Barcelona in the youth ranks between 2007 and 2014, but never played for the first team. He then went to Dinamo Zagreb, where he stayed for six years, before joining RB Leipzig.
