Russian figure skater talks about strippers for juniors and remembers Valieva

Figure skater Baranova: juniors invited strippers to party after Grand Prix

Russian figure skater Sofia Baranova told how the parties after the competitions were held. Her words are quoted by Sport-Express.

“I’ll give you an example of official banquets after international competitions. The junior stage of the Grand Prix was held in Chelyabinsk. A closed afterparty for athletes with tickets. As far as I know, the party ended with strippers being invited there,” the figure skater said. Baranova added that she would not blame the Figure Skating Federation for this, since it could not control what happened after the tournament.

Along with the question of who should be held responsible for such behavior of minors, she recalled the doping story of Kamila Valieva. “The grandfather whose cake was eaten, traces remained, and then it turns out that the doping tests were unfavorable? I don’t believe the version with the cake at all, because I know the situation. Of course, it’s not about the cake. How could trimetazidine be in it?” the figure skater was surprised.

On January 29, Valieva was disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules. Traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021. All of the athlete’s results from that date were annulled. In particular, Valieva, along with her Russian teammates, were stripped of the gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics.
