World record holder refuses to live in Olympic village

Pole vault world record holder Duplantis turns down Olympic village

Swedish pole vault world record holder Armand Duplantis has refused to live in the Olympic Village at the 2024 Games in Paris, Expressen reports.

Sweden’s captain Kajsa Bergqvist said the athlete had found better accommodation than the Olympic Village. “He is a professional to the core and has needs that must be respected. He needs to prepare as best as possible,” she said.

Duplantis is an Olympic champion at the Tokyo Games. He set a world record in pole vaulting, clearing a height of 6.24 meters.

Earlier, several athletes criticized the living conditions in the Olympic Village. In particular, American tennis player Cori Gauff, Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus and Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic were dissatisfied.
