Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic calls Olympic rules illogical
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic called the Olympic rules illogical. His words are quoted by AP.
The athlete was unhappy with the fact that Britain’s Andy Murray was replaced in the singles at the 2024 Games in Paris by doubles player Matthew Ebden. “I really don’t understand the rules. There were a lot of substitutes in the singles who had a lot of time. They could have been called up,” he said.
In the first round of the Olympic singles, Djokovic defeated Ebden. The match lasted 53 minutes and ended in two sets with a score of 6:0, 6:1. In the second round, Djokovic will face Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
Nadal is a two-time Olympic champion. He won gold in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and then won doubles with Marc Lopez at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Djokovic won bronze at the 2008 Games.
