Deputy Zhurova: Return to the Olympics under the Russian flag depends on the timing of the SVO
The return of Russians to the Olympics under the national flag depends on the timing of the end of the special military operation (SVO), according to Olympic champion, First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, she named the condition for lifting restrictions for Russian athletes to participate in international competitions.
“If the situation in Ukraine is brought to peace talks, which world politicians have begun to talk about more often, then it is clear that almost immediately after that we will return with a flag and an anthem. I cannot predict what will happen with the peace agreement, but the return of our athletes with full access and with all the attributes of Russian statehood to competitions depends on it. It depends exclusively on this,” the deputy said.
