Argentina vs Morocco Olympic football match finished after two hours
The first round match of the group stage of the men’s football tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris between the national teams of Argentina and Morocco was played in two hours. The broadcast was conducted on the website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The match took place at the Geoffroy Guichard Stadium and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of Morocco. Initially, Argentinean Christian Medina scored a goal in the 16th minute of added time and tied the score at 2:2. After that, Moroccan fans ran onto the field and started throwing bottles and firecrackers at the Argentines. The referee stopped the game and took the teams to the locker room.
Medina’s goal was reviewed by VAR and found to have been scored from an offside position, meaning the final three minutes of the match were played two hours later.
The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11. The IOC has allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the 2024 Games as individual neutral athletes.
