Expugile from Trinidad and Tobago, who is visiting our country, achieved three International Federation titles and retired in 2012.
Ria Ramnarine, Sports Director of the International Amateur Boxing (IBA), arrived in Guayaquil this Monday and completed a reconnaissance tour of the venues and hotels that will be used in the next Continental Boxing Championship, to be held in March next year in Guayaquil.
Ria, expugile of Trinidad and Tobago, with the help of an interpreter, he indicated: “Guayaquil has been very hospitable and friendly since I arrived here. It gives a lot of confidence to the American Confederation (of Boxing) so that the event to be held be a success, because I see that they are very hard-working people ”.
What most impressed the international leader is that the Continental Organizing Committee is already formed. “Almost everything is ready and I am very surprised by the offers that the hotels have made. It will be a difficult decision to choose the hotel for the delegations, because they are all very nice and comfortable ”.
It is estimated that Guayaquil will have the visit at the Continental Boxing of between 450 and 500 people, between leaders, boxers, coaches and members of the coaching staff.
Ria, who retired from professional boxing in 2012, points out that she came to the sports leadership because of her dedication, the commitment he made to boxing and the respect that he always showed to all people.
Regarding the functions he currently performs in the IBA, he points out that being a leader is more complicated than being an athlete, because he only thinks about it. “As a leader a whole group should be thought of people, and the decisions one makes can affect others. It is very difficult to be an administrator because of the resolutions that must be taken, because life can be changed for good or bad for others”.
The expugile does not say anything about the toughest combat she has ever faced above a ring. “I cannot say which was my strongest rival, but the strongest competitor I had was myself, because I was demanding with myself and I wanted to be better and better ”.
What boxing left to the 43-year-old ex-boxer: International Federation light fly champion in 2005 and 2006, as well as the 2011 lightweight champion. She indicates that her activity allowed her to be part of the IBA, of the American Boxing Confederation and hopes to continue growing in this activity ”. (D)
