Zhurova warned athletes and fans about possible provocations at the 2024 Olympics
Olympic champion, first deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova warned Russian athletes and fans about possible provocations at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The deputy shared her concerns in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
“I think there might be some clashes in the stands. Although at the Olympic Games, in principle, this shouldn’t happen. Some flags or something else might appear. I don’t know to what extent all this will be prohibited there. But people are emotional. They can take out something, say something. But I hope that all people are decent. The Olympics should imply this,” Zhurova said.
The deputy suggested that provocative statements and actions could be directed at Russian tennis players.
“This already happened at the last Olympics. They kept knocking down Dania Medvedev as much as they could. They were making him lose his temper. And they want someone to show their aggression, so that they can then say: ‘See what Russians are like?'” she added.
Anything may or may not happen. These are just assumptions.
