Russian swimmer Somov shows Olympic accreditation as neutral athlete

Russian swimmer Evgeny Somov on Instagram (a social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) showed the accreditation issued to him to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris as a neutral athlete.

The document contains a photograph, surname and name of the athlete. It also indicates the sport in which Somov will compete.

Somov’s invitation to the Olympics became known on July 3. 25-year-old Somov lives and trains in the USA.

The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians were admitted to the competition as individual neutral athletes. Some athletes refused to participate in the tournament, despite receiving quotas and invitations from the IOC.
