Former head coach of the Russian national team Plyushchev called on the KHL to follow the example of ballet
Former head coach of the Russian national hockey team Vladimir Plyushchev spoke about pre-season training in the Continental and National Hockey Leagues (KHL and NHL). His words are quoted by Russia-Hockey.ru.
Pluschev spoke out against short summer work in Russia and called for not comparing the KHL with the NHL in this regard. “It has been said a thousand times that the NHL is a world league, the whole world works for it, the best and already formed hockey players are gathered in it. Forget about any parallels!” the ex-coach explained.
The specialist also recalled that not only hockey but also ballet was strong in the USSR, and it is worth taking an example from it. “Take a ballerina away from the barre and send her to a resort for three months! And that’s it – a loss of qualification, it’s that simple. Fortunately, there are no such hotheads in the domestic ballet. But in hockey there are some. That’s our problem,” he emphasized.
The KHL regular championship starts on September 3. The first match will feature the finalists of the last Gagarin Cup: Magnitogorsk Metallurg, as the current champion, will host Yaroslavl Lokomotiv. The NHL season will start a month later, on October 4.
